I have a new love. The source of my affection doesn’t talk back, nor does it ask anything of me. If anything, this is a one-sided love affair because I’m getting all the benefit. No, I’m not talking about food (for once). My amazing new addiction is called “Pinterest”.
Pinterest is an online virtual pinboard where you can create categories (anything your little heart desires) and then “pin” pictures/links that you find online. So, everything is neatly categorized and stored away for a rainy day when you decide to finally reorganize your craft closet. For example, one of my categories is called “photography ideas” in which I have pinned other photographers cool angles, props, color usage, etc.
In a sense, Pinterest is also like a social scrapbook because you can search for a particular item or topic and then see what other people have pinned. Here’s a great example…I have already began to daydream about our next home and how I will decorate. I’m so intrigued by light blue furniture as accent pieces right now…so I typed in “blue furniture”. Here are some of the results (prepare to drool):![]()

As you can see on the last picture, you have the option to “repin” a picture into your own category. You can also follow friends and see what they’ve pinned on your home page when you first log in.
Don’t think that Pinterest is just about furniture, photography, and the like. There are professionals who use Pinterest for business-based ideas. In addition, you can pin recipes and even create a category for just fun stuff that makes you laugh….here are some examples (please excuse my sick sense of humor):
So, apparently not just anyone can join Pinterest. You have to be invited! You’re in luck, because I can invite any of you who are interested! Just leave a comment below with your email address and I’ll send you a Pinterest invite!
